Teachers and students at JIS welcome new school year at the Opening Ceremony

On Sept. 05th, Japanese International School (JIS) solemnly held its School Opening Ceremony of the new school year 2018 – 2019 for students at three levels: kindergarten, elementary and secondary school.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Yamada wanted students to do three things: to be polite, have sympathy for others and always believe in themselves, that they can become nice people and lead a happy and successful life.

Attending the ceremony, the school's management team was headed by Mr. Dao Xuan Hoc – Chairman of JIS School Board, Mr. Tadashi Yamada – Principal, Mr. Hitoshi Sasano – Vice Principal and Director of JIP, Mr. Sidney Rose – Vice Principal and Director of CIP, as well as teachers, students and parents.

Unlike the usual School Opening Ceremony often held in many schools in Vietnam, the ceremony at JIS is to welcome newcomers and those attending the first year of all levels according to Japanese education. The Opening Ceremony was brief but formal and meaningful with the sharing and messages from Mr. Yamada, representative of parents, a student representative and singing performance to welcome new students.

Mrs. Kim Thanh – representative of parents in Primary section talked about the improvement of her child in discipline and learning outcomes when studying at JIS.

Founded in 2016, JIS places its core value in character education. Up to now, students have made remarkable progress in their academic results, discipline and behaviour during their studies at the school. Last July, the Cambridge International Programme (CIP) was launched to help students develop more well-rounded and become global citizen with confidence.

In the school year 2018-2019, JIS will continue to focus on improving teaching quality, enforcing discipline and moral education for students. There are also many students from remote provinces staying in the school dormitory. The school is preparing for secondary school curriculum to begin in the near future. At the same time, cooperation with high schools and universities in Japan is promoted. Recently, JIS signed a cooperation agreement with Sendai Ikuei High School, one of the most famous Japanese schools with international students from all over the world.

JIS expects the Japanese educational method will spread widely to other schools in Hanoi and gradually to all over the country in the future.

In his speech to parents, Mr. Yamada affirmed that
teaching and caring for children could not be done without family’s cooperation. "Parents should stay by their children’s side and encourage them. Help them to maximize their Japanese ability so that this language becomes the strongest weapon for students graduating from JIS ", said Yamada.
