PRIMARY CURRICULUM

International System: Students are educated according to Japanese standards, learned according to programs and syllabus of the Ministry of Education and Science of Japan. Particularly Vietnamese (Literature), History, Geography courses are taught in Vietnamese according to the syllabus and textbooks prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam. In the first year, students are taught Japanese, English; In the following years, teaching subjects will gradually be replaced by Japanese in accordance with students' ability to acquire.

In high school, the school coordinates with parents and students to make a decision on one of two options: (1) Transfer to JIS's sister school in Japan from grade 10, ( grade 11 or 12), with a lower total cost or equivalent cost in Vietnam. (2) Students who have good academic results and good morals will be nominated by the School Board of Management to study at Chuo University or Tokyo Metropolitan University).

– Upon graduation from high school, students will have the Japanese language proficiency (above N2), English³ 6.5 IELTS.

–  Good students can take part in short-term study exchange programs at junior and senior high schools in Japan.

– During the year, students will be able to participate in exchanges with students from Japan.

– Students of  the Japan International School may transfer to the local general schools at levels (please see the difference between the training programs of Japan and Vietnam ).

Bilingual system: Students are educated according to Japanese standards, learned according to programs and textbooks (translated into Vietnamese and English) of the Ministry of Education and Science of Japan. Particularly Vietnamese (Literature), History, Geography courses are taught in Vietnamese according to the syllabus and textbooks prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam. Upon graduation from high school, students will have the English language proficiency with 7.0 IELTS.

 

♦ Extracurricular activities are rich and diverse. Students acquire knowledge not only through theories but also through education in order to understand the nature of things and experience them in the knowledge that is shaped.

The school held a graduation tour for primary and secondary students in Kyoto and Tokyo, Japan. Students are registered as desired.

 Japanese:  In the last year, reaching level above N2

♦ English: By the end of grade 4, the vocabulary of students will reach about 600 words.

 By the end of grade 5, the vocabulary of students will reach about 900 words.

By the end of grade 6, the vocabulary of students will reach about 1.100 từ to 1.500 words. By the end of grade 7, the vocabulary of students will reach about 1.500 to 2.000 words. By the end of grade 8, the level is equivalent to A2, the vocabulary achieve approximately 2,000 – 2,500 words.

♦ Music: Spacious music room with full of popular instruments such as: Melodion, Cyclophone, piano, xyclophone, drums, symbal, bar chimes, xyclophone, acmonic, percussion instruments, tambourine, maracas, castanet, guiro … and 3 mechanical piano sets. Especially the Bechstein Grand Piano of Europe with great sound, dedicated for concerts.

  • Modern music room with sound system, mic speaker and portable study table to suit students' learning activities, musical instrument and musical sensation.
  • The program of studying music is lively, diverse with the full range of subjects: musicology, music sensation, movement games, vocal music, chorus, instrument, instrumental melody, simple melody composition , command, history of music…
  • Blended with the curriculum and teaching materials of Japan, students also learn songs and knowledge about Vietnamese music in the textbook of the Ministry of Education and Training.

 Students can join the appropriate clubs to develop their talents and interests.

♦ Fine art: Each week, students have 2 classes of Fine Art – Craft with Japanese curriculum and textbooks. There are four categories: Drawing, Clay, Crafts and Tours (Nature or Museum, Fine Art Gallery). From the making of utensils, toys with the items or the familiar scraps (paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, empty cans, …), students are trained with diligence, thrift and creativity. With materials such as clay, crayons, watercolors, … they are imagined to create pictures, statues with a lot of unique ideas and individual nuances.
