FASCINATING PRACTICE TIME WITH JAPANESE MISO SOUP OF GRADE 6

On June 5th, 2018, grade 6 at JIS guided by Teacher Miyagi of Household Art department was held an interesting lesson learning how to cook Miso soup in Japanese style.

Instead of sitting still in class and learning all theory, students are exposed to new teaching methods. Class was divided into small groups. Their first task was to find information about ingredients, cooking method and pictures of the dish then presented in front of the class.

Although having researched thoroughly, for many students, cooking Miso soup for the first time was no doubt an exciting experience. Ingredients including seaweed, turnips, onions, fried tofu, miso sauce were and cooking tools were pre-prepared.

The kitchen became so vibrant at zero hour, (delete) everyone started to work…sometimes there was a voice asking “What should we do next?”… finally, the Miso soup was finished in no time, (delete) all students enjoyed the taste and complimented on their work.

After the lesson, all students were happy to learn and practice at the same time, this way they can better understand the lesson and improve their culinary skills to boast with their family.
